Privacy policy

Fondly holds information about people at one of the hardest times in their lives. We collect only what a page needs, never sell it, and never use it for advertising. Last updated 12 October 2026.

Who we are

Fondly (fondly.au) is made in Sydney by its founder, Dongjin. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Questions or requests: hello@fondly.au.

What we collect

  • From the family who makes a page: the name of the person who died, dates, service and wake details, a cover picture, the organiser's email address, and anything else they choose to add.
  • From guests: RSVPs (name, whether they're coming, how many, any notes), meal roster bookings, messages and photos they choose to share, and an email address if they give one.
  • For payments: Stripe collects card and bank details directly. We never see or store full card numbers. We keep a record of what was paid and when.
  • For the eulogy writer: the memories and details you type in, and an email address for the free public version.
  • Technical information: basic server logs (such as IP address and browser type) used to keep the service secure and working.

How we use it

Only to run Fondly: to show the page to the people the family shares it with, send the emails the family or guests ask for (such as a sign-in link or an RSVP summary), process payments and gifts, write eulogy drafts, prevent abuse, and answer support requests. We don't sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

Who can see a page

A family page can be opened by anyone with its link, so share it with the people you want to see it. Pages are hidden from search engines. Guest photos only appear after the family approves them, and the family can remove messages and photos at any time.

Services we use

We share information only with the providers that run Fondly, and only what each needs:

  • Vercel hosts the website.
  • Supabase stores pages, replies and photos.
  • Stripe processes Premium payments and gifts to families, and verifies the identity of family members who receive gifts.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • Anthropic provides the AI model that writes eulogy drafts. It receives only what you type into the eulogy writer.
  • Google suggests addresses when a family types a venue (Google Places).

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable with the Australian Privacy Principles. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

A free page stays online for 90 days after its last event, then guests see an archive notice. Premium pages stay online for as long as Fondly runs. The family can ask us to delete a page, and everything on it, at any time by emailing hello@fondly.au.

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to the people who run Fondly. Each family's private page link is long and random. If you think a private link has been shared too widely, email us and we'll help.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@fondly.au. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
