Who makes Fondly
Fondly is made in Sydney by Dongjin, its founder, who also writes and publishes the guides on this site. It's a small, independent project, not part of a funeral company, and it doesn't take commissions from funeral directors.
The family page is free: the service and wake details, RSVPs, a meal roster, updates and messages. An optional one-off Premium payment keeps the page online for good and adds more eulogy drafts. Families who choose to accept gifts receive them straight into their own bank account through Stripe.
How we write our guides
The guides cover practical steps after a death in Australia: registering it, certificates, the coroner, funeral costs, the will and who to tell. Because these are money and legal matters, every guide follows the same rules:
- Official sources first. Each fact links to the government or official page it comes from: Services Australia, the ATO, state registries, courts and public trustees.
- A second, independent check. Before a guide is published, every fee, phone number, deadline and link is checked again against those sources, separately from the writing. Anything that can't be confirmed is removed or softened.
- Dated and refreshed. Each guide shows when it was last checked. Fees change each July, so the state guides are re-checked then.
- Open about tools. Guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools, then checked as above. The eulogy writer in the family page is AI, and says so.
- General information only. The guides aren't legal, financial or medical advice. Your funeral director, the registry or a lawyer can confirm what applies to you.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, please email hello@fondly.au with the page and what's changed. Corrections are made as soon as they're confirmed, and the guide's date is updated.
Privacy
Family pages are private by link and hidden from search engines. The drop-off address for meals is shown only to the person who booked that night. We never sell anyone's details.
